Peyton was born June 25, 1938 in Pueblo, Colorado to William Peyton Wilbar Jr. and Mona Faricy Wilbar. He graduated from Florence High School in 1956. He is also a graduate of the University of Colorado with a degree in business administration. William also served in the Navy.
In 1969 he married Charlene Vallejos. They had two sons, William Peyton IV, and Isaac Russell.
Peyton is survived by his wife Charlene, sons William and Russell and four grandchildren, William Peyton V, Victoria, Vivian, and Josie. He is also survived by brothers John (Connie) Wilbar, Brian Wilbar, and several nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by both of his parents.
The Wilbar family has called Florence, Colorado home since the early 1890's when their grandparents came to Colorado. The grandfather was very active in community affairs., He was one of the principal workers getting the Newlin Creek's water used by the City of Florence. He built two Wilbar blocks on Main Street, and managed the Portland Mercantile Store. Peyton's parents owned and operated Servall Grocery for several years.
While living with his family in Florence, Peyton was self employed as a certified public accountant. He was active in politics. He served on the RE2-J School Board, the local hospital board and the Chamber of Commerce Board. He was a member of the Florence Elk's Club and St. Benedict's Catholic Church.
Peyton was a loving and caring husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed going to trivia nights with his sons. He especially loved to be with his grandchildren. He will be missed.
Services will be Thursday May 11, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Florence, CO.
