John Francis Siglowski

July 18, 1927 ~ January 26, 2016 (age 88) 88 Years Old


John Siglowski of Ft. Collins, unexpectedly passed away January 23, 2016 with his family by his side. John was born on July 18, 1927, in Wells Minnesota to Bernard and Mary Rose (Dulas) Siglowski.  He had 14 siblings. A career soldier he entered active duty in 1944  during WWII with commissions in Korea and Germany. Instructor in the Army ROTC program and also worked in the CSU Atmospheric Science Department where he retired in 1986. John’s military awards include the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, The Japan and Germany Occupation Medals, The National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Carbine Expert Badge. While stationed in Germany in 1954 he met and married the love of his life Liz.   November 2015 they celebrated their 61st. Anniversary. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, gardening, canning and most of all golf.  The Ft Collins Coloradoan paper 1964 had a pictured article of his “hole in 1.” He was a longtime and loyal VFW Post 1781 member. Also active Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge and American Legion. He is survived by his loving wife, Liz (Skyline Ridge Nursing Home of Canon City), daughter Jo (Norm) Harwig of Canon City, Grandson Brett (Jennifer); Mike (Jenn); Greatgrandchildren Elizabeth and Alex of Colorado Springs.

At his request, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
